Dating Site Tricks

by: Vivian Johnson

There are so many single people online looking for love and companionship. That makes us easy targets for a variety of scams and tricks. Here are just a few...

The Fictitious Member- The fact that you have signed up for their free trial shows you are interested in their site. But, they would rather have you as a paying member. At the most opportune time...you receive a lengthy email from the man of your dreams!

This is the first time he has joined an online dating site, and personally doesn’t care for it. He is only looking for one good woman, and based on your profile...it could be you!

You join in order to respond to your “internet dream”. Only to have him totally disappear.

New Members In Your Area- Every few days, they will have a photo shuffle of all of the new members that are in your area. This is done for two reasons:

1. It gives you the impression that this site is continually getting new members in your area, so you want to stay here. If not, you may miss “the one” and you will have no one to blame but yourself!

2. By showing these photos, it will increase the email traffic to all of the members in the photo shuffle.

The trick? Most of these members (in the photo shuffle) are no longer paying members. So, when they suddenly have a mail box full of new messages, they will upgrade to a paying member in order to read and respond to the sudden boat load of messages!

They have killed two birds with one stone: you keep your membership current to keep from missing the new guys in your area. And...it increases the renewal membership from the men paraded in the photo shuffle.

As with everything else: If it looks too good to be true? It probably is!
